Choir The four choirs at Monona Grove are part of the regular curricular program. Concerts are held 3-4 times during the school year.
Concert Choir - open to all incoming 9th-grade students. Treble Choir - open to all 10th-grade sopranos/altos. A Cappella Choir - open to all 10th-grade tenor/bass voices and all 11th-grade students. Bel Canto Choir - open to all 12th-grade students - and by audition only for 11th-grade students. MusicalThe musicals at Monona Grove are known for top notch performances, and have won numerous Jerry (previously known as Tommy) awards, recognizing the highest accomplishments by high school performers.
From weeks of rehearsals in acting, to costume & makeup, to set design and sound & lighting -- it takes an army to pull it all off, but Monona Grove makes it look effortless! Show ChoirThe show choirs & show band at Monona Grove are competition groups that travel to area/regional schools and perform for live audiences of hundreds of spectators. These groups are judged by highly qualified professionals and in show choir competitions, MGHS frequently earns trophies and awards for vocal and dance performance on individual and group levels.
Activity Period: July through May Silver Connection (soprano/alto/tenor/bass voices) Varsity level singing/dancing competition team with a long, successful history of creating a uniquely themed show every year. Each show is focused on excellent vocal production, cohesive interaction with MG's award-winning show band, and creative movement achieved through advanced choreography. Auditions are in May for the next school year. Silver Dimension (treble choir - soprano/alto voices) JV level show choir, comprised of soprano and alto vocals, along with live band accompaniment. This group is open to all interested singer/dancers (no cuts). Silver Dimension performers create a uniquely themed show focusing on excellent vocal production and creative movement. Signups are in May for the next school year. Show Band (instrumentalists) The students in our 16-20 piece band compete along with the show choir singer/dancers, while performing the uniquely arranged live music to accompany each annual show. The MGHS Show Band is eligible for earning awards specific to instrumental music and stage presence. |
